The Clay Art Center
The Clay Art Center, at 1703 E. Ft. Lowell Road, in Tucson Arizona is a partnership of Betsy Tanzer and her husband Marvin Tanzer.
Betsy Tanzer is an experienced and credentialed artist who is the resident instructor at the Clay Art Center.
Betsy Tanzer attended the University of Michigan’s College of Architecture and Design and Brandeis University. She graduated Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts, with distinction, in ceramics. She has taught pottery classes at Wesleyan Potters (CT), Canton Clayworks (CT), Farmington Valley Art Center (CT), Mendocino Art Center (CA), Sheldon Jackson College (AK), the International School of Liege, Belgium, and the Romero House Pottery Studio in Tucson. Her ware has been featured in various galleries on the east and west coasts as well as locally. Along with fine form and shape, her work features flowing handles, intricate chattering, slip and sgraffito design, and excellent glazing techniques. Her classes at the Clay Art Center are for persons with all levels of experience where they can expect to receive individual attention and hands-on guidance, learning tips and tricks to facilitate and improve their work.
